【摘要】:ThejudiciousselectionofapackagingmaterialispartofGoodManufacturingPractices(GMPs)fortheirradiationofprepackagedfoods.Thisguiderecognizestheneedtoevaluatetheimpactofpackagingmaterialsonthesafetyandqualityoffoodsirradiatedtocontroltheproliferationoffoodbornepathogens,aswellastheirimpactonfoodsirradiatedforotherpurposes,suchaspreventionofre-infestation,delayofripening,orshelflifeextension.Aspartoftheevaluation,theselectionprocessshouldconsidertheeffectsofirradiationonthechemicalandphysicalpropertiesofthepackagingmaterial.PackagingisnotconsideredtobeafoodpreservationtechniqueforovercominganydeficienciesattributabletoinadequateGMPsduringpreparation,storage,ortreatmentoffoodstobeirradiated.Thequalityoftheirradiatedfoodwilldependheavilyonitsinitialquality,controloftheirradiationprocess,storagetemperatureandhandlingofthefoodafterirradiation.1.1Thisguideprovidesaformattoassistproducersandusersoffoodpackagingmaterialsinselectingmaterialsthathavethedesirablecharacteristicsfortheirintendeduseandcomplywithapplicablestandardsorgovernmentauthorizations.Itoutlinesparametersthatshouldbeconsideredwhenselectingfood-contactpackagingmaterialsintendedforuseduringirradiationofprepackagedfoodsanditexaminesthecriteriaforfitnessfortheiruse.1.2Thisguideidentifiesknownregulationsandregulatoryframeworksworldwidepertainingtopackagingmaterialsforholdingfoodsduringirradiation;butitdoesnotaddressallregulatoryissuesassociatedwiththeselectionanduseofpackagingmaterialsforfoodstobeirradiated.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisguidetodeterminethepertinentregulatoryissuesineachcountrywherefoodsaretobeirradiatedandwhereirradiatedfoodsaredistributed.1.3Thisguidedoesnotaddressallofthefoodsafetyissuesassociatedwiththesynergisticeffectsofirradiationandpackagingasfoodpreservationtechniquesontheextensionofshelflifeorfoodquality.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisguidetodeterminethecriticalfoodsafetyissuesandtoconductappropriateproductassessmentteststodeterminethecompatibilitybetweenthepackagingapplicationandirradiationrelativetochangesinsensoryattributesandshelflife.1.4Thisguidedoesnotaddresstheuseofirradiationasaprocessingaidfortheproductionorsterilizationoffoodpackagingmaterials.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
